Published September 2025

By Leonardo Filippini (Director), Ángeles Ramallo, Martín Sigal, Andrea Schuster and María Inés Ponce Balestri

This paper explores how the University of Buenos Aires School of Law has conceptualised and implemented its programmes and initiatives on human rights since the restoration of democracy in Argentina in 1983. It traces the very beginnings of the idea of adopting human rights as an academic value and language in the transition, describes how human rights modules, programmes, clinics and activities have emerged and evolved over time, and suggests some useful ways of assessing the impact, as well as current challenges.

The paper is available in both English and Spanish.
