Activism

Universities have long histories as sites of activism, adding value through qualities such as legitimacy, status, access to knowledge, resources, and networks. Specifically, universities can made four contributions to activist agendas, as:

  1. Instigators, for example through student-activists and scholar-activists.

  2. Incubators, of ideas, movements, and new states in post-independencend transitional settings.

  3. Collaborators, partnering in applied research, capacity building and training, and advocacy.

  4. Protection (see here).
